How roof water reaches the foundation
Everything that lands on your roof has to go somewhere. A working gutter concentrates it at the downspouts and moves it away from the house. A blocked gutter releases it along the whole roofline, directly onto the soil beside the foundation.
Saturated soil presses against foundation walls and settles unevenly as it dries. Over repeated seasons that pressure and movement is what shows up indoors as sticking doors, uneven floors and cracks that keep coming back.
Why Florida ground behaves the way it does
Sandy soil drains quickly in normal conditions but saturates fast during a heavy rainy season, and it shifts more readily than clay soils. Many homes here sit on slabs or concrete block walls where mortar joints are the first place water finds a way through.
A high water table in coastal areas leaves less capacity in the ground, so water that should have gone out through the downspout has nowhere to disperse.
What gutter protection changes

It is not a substitute for the rest of the system. Gutters that are undersized, pitched wrong or pulling away from the fascia need to be corrected first, and gutters under heavy tree cover may still need occasional clearing.
Where the water ends up still depends on the rest of the system: downspout placement, extensions or splash blocks, and grade that falls away from the house.
