Dual-Layer Micro-Mesh Gutter Guards for Florida Homes

Here is how our dual-layer micro-mesh guard compares with single-layer guards under Florida oaks, pines, pollen and storm season, and how to pick the right one for your roofline.

Quick answer

The short version

  • Single-layer guards rely on one screen or mesh held in a frame over the gutter.
  • Our guard uses two layers of micro-mesh, plus integrated support along the gutter.
  • Under Florida oaks and pines, the second layer and the built-in support are what set our guard apart, and it installs without lifting your shingles.
  • Any guard needs an occasional surface check. Ours carries a lifetime limited product warranty that includes clog-free performance in pine-covered areas.

What a single-layer gutter guard is

Most gutter guards put one filtering layer across the top of the gutter: a screen, a cover with holes punched in it or a single sheet of mesh, held in a frame that slides under the shingles or fastens to the gutter lip. Water goes through the openings and larger debris stays on top.

With one layer, everything rides on that single surface. Fine material that gets through the openings, like pollen, oak tassels, roof grit and blown sand, goes straight into the gutter channel.

What a dual-layer micro-mesh gutter guard is

Clean Gutter Protection installs a dual-layer micro-mesh gutter guard. Rain passes through the top micro-mesh layer. A second layer sits underneath, so anything small enough to get past the surface meets another barrier before the gutter channel.

Both layers are aluminum micro-mesh, so they will not rust in Florida humidity or salt air. The guard is built with an integrated fastening system that supports the gutter along its full length. It is not a screen resting on top of a gutter; guard and gutter work as one system. It also installs without lifting your shingles, so nothing goes under the roof.

The Florida debris test

Jacksonville and St. Johns, Clay and Nassau counties throw every kind of debris at a gutter. Live oaks drop leaves, tassels and heavy pollen in late winter and spring. Slash and longleaf pines drop needles all fall. Spanish moss, palm fibers and sweetgum balls fill in the rest of the year, and summer storms test the system almost every afternoon.

Leaves, moss and palm fibers stay on top of most guards. The difference shows up with the fine stuff. With a single layer, whatever gets through goes into the gutter. With two micro-mesh layers, the second layer catches what slips past the first, which is the construction we chose for homes under heavy oak and pine canopy.

Storm season and gutter support

From June 1 through November 30, hurricane season brings wind and heavy rain bands across the region, and fall nor'easters add more. A guard is only as solid as what holds it. Many guards depend on the existing hangers and the gutter lip.

Our guard's integrated fastening system supports the gutter along its length. On every estimate we also check hangers, pitch and downspout outlets, and we price seamless aluminum replacement when the existing gutters are not worth guarding.

Is a dual-layer micro-mesh guard right for your home?

If your home sits under oaks and pines, a dual-layer micro-mesh guard with integrated support is built for it. The guard and gutter work as one system, and the guard carries a lifetime limited product warranty that includes clog-free performance in pine-covered areas and can be transferred once with the property.

Price depends on gutter footage, roof height and access, and whether the gutters need replacing first. We measure your home and give you a written price before you decide.

Dual-layer micro-mesh: common questions

Is a single-layer guard enough under Florida oaks and pines?

Not for most homes. Our dual-layer micro-mesh guard adds a second filtration layer and integrated gutter support, backed by a lifetime limited product warranty that includes clog-free performance in pine-covered areas.

Do gutter guards still need maintenance?

Yes, a little. Debris that rests on top can need occasional clearing, especially under sheltered roof areas where wind cannot lift it away. How often depends on the home and the trees around it.

Is the Clean Gutter Protection guard a micro-mesh guard?

Yes. It is a dual-layer aluminum micro-mesh guard with an integrated fastening system along the gutter.

Will gutter guards affect my roof warranty?

Not ours. Our guard installs without lifting your shingles. It fastens to the gutter, so nothing is pried up, nailed through or slid beneath the shingle line. If you are looking at a guard that tucks under the shingles, ask your roofer how that affects your roof warranty before you buy.

What does a dual-layer micro-mesh guard cost?

It depends on the house more than the product. Gutter footage, roof height, access and whether the gutters need replacing first drive the price. We measure your home at a free in-person estimate and give you a written price before you decide.

How does it handle a Florida downpour?

Both layers let rain through. Debris that rests on top can still need occasional clearing, and the second layer underneath handles what slips past the first.

Can you install your guard on my existing gutters?

It is designed for compatible new or replacement gutters. We check the profile and condition of your gutters at a free in-person estimate, and if they are not a fit we price seamless aluminum gutters and guards together.
